The stars of Marvel TV shows react to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the rest of the Netflix roster moving to the Disney+ service.
Several stars from Marvel TV/Netflix shows react to their move to the Disney+ service. It was recently revealed that all Marvel TV series, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher, were leaving their original streaming platform, Netflix. The news came as a shock to many viewers, noting that it was discovered only because of a very brief pop-up notification when each show was clicked.
Originally, only Disney+ Canada was ready to host Daredevil and other Marvel shows after they left Netflix. This triggered discussion among fans in the US, who wondered whether the projects would eventually land on their local Disney+. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for the House of Mouse to respond. All Marvel TV shows are now going to be officially available on US Disney+ starting March 16, 2022. In light of this news, the platform is also introducing new parental control capabilities, as Marvel’s Netflix projects will retain their original TV-MA rating.
The news of the Marvel show moving to Disney prompted many of its stars to share their thoughts on the big upset. Daredevil stars Deborah Ann Woll and Vincent D’Onofrio, as well as The Punisher’s Ben Barnes, were among those who expressed their excitement over the development on Twitter. The same goes for Agents of SHIELD actor, Clark Gregg. See his tweet below:
Despite coming to the Disney+ service, it is still uncertain whether Marvel TV shows are canon in the MCU, where their Disney+ counterparts exist. While shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones were conceived with the idea that they existed in a reality similar to Marvel Studios’ films, they were handled by a different creative team. Until recently, there had been no crossover between the Marvel TV show and the MCU. However, Greg’s Coulson and D’Onofrio’s Kingpin are both confirmed to be present in the main MCU. He first appeared in Iron Man and the rest of the Phase 1 films, before being awarded his own spin-off series in Agents of SHIELD. Meanwhile, the latter recently debuted in the Sacred Timeline via Hawkeye, still playing the role of kingpin. Lastly, Spider-Man: No Way Home also recently brought Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil to the MCU.

While their characters are starting to overlap, it’s possible that Marvel Studios doesn’t want to simply absorb all of these earlier Netflix-based shows and make their programs MCU canon. The MCU’s micro-continuity is already complicated, and the inclusion of so many additional shows will likely serve as a headache for Feige and her team. Instead, Marvel may choose to make the TV series a part of its budding multiverse, so that individual events can be more easily explained. Whatever the case, most fans are thrilled that all Marvel content can still be accessed on one platform.
