Tom Holland may be more than eager to return to his role as Peter Parker in the MCU, but No Way Home provided the perfect ending to his story.

The 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home should be the last time Tom Holland took on the iconic role of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Even though he doesn’t want to retire his Peter Parker, the MCU would be better off hanging up Tom’s Spidey-suit for good. Though he has done a great job in portraying the character in his unique way, there is no need for him to continue doing so.
Tom Holland has been playing Marvel’s Spider-Man since the 2016 release of Captain America: Civil War. Since this initial appearance, he has starred in two Avengers films and three Spider-Man films, with No Way Home releasing in 2021. During these five years, Tom’s Peter Parker has evolved rapidly, leaving behind the question of whether Tom will continue to reprise his role. In a recent interview with Deadline, Tom mentioned that although he’s satisfied with his Peter Parker accomplishment, he’s not ready to “say goodbye” to Spider-Man. While Marvel may be tracing Tom’s story beyond No Way Home, its bitter ending is the perfect way to look at him.
Peter Parker’s final scene in No Way Home shows him walking into a barren apartment with only one box of his belongings. In this apartment, he was sewing a dress and listening to a radio, ready to jump into action whenever his city needed him. Despite losing his aunt May (Marissa Tomei), his best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalone), his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and all of his teammates in Avengers, Peter was still ready to be a superhero, making all his efforts. It’s over. Meaningful relationship. This scene indicated that even after hitting the cliff, Peter’s resolve to continue helping others remained as strong as ever. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker doesn’t need another movie to prove he’ll always be a hero.
Instead of enriching the version of the friendly web-swinger Tom Holland, where leaving Spider-Man: No Way Home could damage all of his character’s progress. One of the defining characteristics of Spider-Man is its ability to function properly regardless of cost. Although Tom Holland’s Peter Parker acknowledged minor sacrifices in his early feature films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, none of these sacrifices were enough. No Way Home corrects Peter by losing his place in the hearts of all those who cared for him, not just his Aunt May, but the villains of both the original Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man Dualji. . Though heartbreaking, this sacrifice perfectly captures what it means to be Spider-Man. Any further exploration of this Peter’s story tarnishes the gravity of his self-sacrifice, possibly at the risk of someone remembering him.
While it would be nice to end Spider-Man’s journey with Marvel Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, there will be plenty of opportunities for other Spider-Man to take the mantle. Marvel’s efforts to create bigger and better glasses with exposure to Multiverse in upcoming movies such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leave plenty of room for characters like Miles Morales or Nguyen Stacey to join the MCU. It’s time for a new Spider-Man to show their strength and take on more responsibilities.
